Why use Lumion? Says Lumion User.
I am an architectural graphic engineer. The first time I tried 3DS Max I realized that time proportioning modeling was very inefficient. I did not need a design with a curved surface like an irregular shape because I could not have a good architectural design.
So I used Sketch-up, which is easier than 3DS MAX, as a modeling tool. Rendering yielded a rendering result with Vray for Sketch-up.
However, V-Ray for Sketch-up was more unstable than Vray for 3DS Max. Implementing the optimization showed a much faster rendering time than Vray for 3DS Max, but the problem was that there was not enough plug-ins for rendering to add object diversity.
Although there were plugins that supported sketch-up rendering, we could not keep up with the quality of 3DS Max's plugin, the forest pack or terrain. Adding direct modeling of trees to the sketch-up slowed down the program or its quality. So the replacement is the png picture file, but it has resulted in a drop in quality.
Because I have so much work, I had to find fast and quality tools. So what I found is Lumion. When I encountered Lumion, it is the Lumion6 version. With natural plant expression and GPU-driven rendering, the amazing rendering time of up to 10 minutes was a huge advantage.
However, Rumion's rendering evaluation did not escape the quality of the game's Sims. I have improved the quality of the rendering result of Lumion6 by Photoshop calibration. However, due to the fast rendering speed, which is not comparable to vray, Photoshop calibration time was not burdensome. Because 3DS Max also needed a lot of Photoshop calibration time. I was pleased that Lumion was able to follow the effects of 3DS MAX's Forest Pack and terrain.
A year later, Lumion7 was released. Various items have been added more than Lumion6 version. This saved me time searching for the sketch-up warehouse to find items when modeling. Of course, items that are not in Lumion should be modeled directly. In addition, natural weather effects and reflections improve rendering quality. In terms of the Lumion7 version, the quality was the same as the vray, and the evaluation of the confrontation v-ray vs lumion appeared.
The Lumion8 has dramatically improved dramatic rendering and improved speed. There is speculation that Lumion9 architectural rendering will surpass the performance of vray in the future.
I would like to talk about the use of Lumion as a user utilizing Lumion8.
